Does anything say ‘Seventies’ better than a brutalist raw-concrete parkade?
At least this one didn’t kill off the street frontage. While providing opportunity for stores and restaurants, it still deadens this stretch of Pender. Given the land values in this part of the downtown ‘academic quarter’ it’s likely going to be demolished sometime and replaced with a denser development – probably space for tech.
2 for 1 in that pic with Harbour Centre peaking over the top.
Looking forward to its demolition
There are a few office buildings planned for the area already, so maybe it’ll go in the next wave of office projects.
The site is likely limited by the same view cone that applies to the 601 West Hastings project, shown below.
You can see the parkade as the short building on the Seymour elevation, so imagine an office block the same height (but wider, east-west, due to a larger site)
