Burcu’s Angels – a good example of a hip independent shop if there ever was one – has left trendy Main for edgy East Hastings at Nanaimo, wedged between the cannabis shops and the office of MLA Shane Simpson…
…including a nice little dig at gentrification and, no doubt, soaring rents.
Please stop referring to the area around Nanaimo and Hastings as edgy. It isn’t and it disrespects residents and businesses. How about affordable? authentic? livable? interesting? heterogeneous? etc. Many thanks.
All those words are good, I agree. It’s not a hipster centre and there is a reasonable balance between poor and not.
I lived in that area over ten years. The edgiest thing there is the notorious drug dealer at 2585 Hastings: ON ON DRUGS.
