The Rick Hansen Foundation develop programs and initiatives that raise awareness, change attitudes and remove barriers for people with disabilities in the built environment. They have several part-time positions available in Richmond and Victoria B.C. You can learn more about their awareness and accessibility programs and initiatives here.
The Rick Hansen Foundation has immediate openings for part-time Accessibility Assessors to “conduct physical accessibility ratings of various locations throughout BC using the RHF Accessibility Certification (RHFAC). The RHFAC is a tiered rating system used to determine the accessibility of the built environment, including commercial, institutional, and residential buildings and outdoor trails. The Accessibility Assessor will allocate points to categories of the built environment to determine the building’s overall level of meaningful access. Accessibility Assessors, equipped with the appropriate tools, will regularly visit properties on their own to assess all sections of the rating system and how it relates to the built environment. On-site assessments will consist of conducting client relations, taking measurements, notes and photo documentation of the entire facility. ”
