“At its most literal, Mobi stands for ‘more bikes’,” says Jerry Dobrovolny, general manager, engineering services. “But the spirit of Mobi reflects mobility, motion and momentum – everything that makes cycling in Vancouver an exhilarating experience.”
“Our tagline, ‘bikes we share’, really reflects the community-based nature of the program,” says Mia Kohout, general manager at Vancouver Bike Share Inc. (a subsidiary of CycleHop), the firm contracted by us to operate the program. “It’s about sharing bikes, sharing the space, and sharing our city,” she adds.

Smart to cut off the riders head so they don’t encourage breaking the helmet law.
It looks like she’s wearing one – there’s a strap visible under her chin if you zoom in. I had the same thought though: smart to cut off the rider’s head so people aren’t immediately turned off by the thought of having to deal with a helmet. Helmet-share? Ew. Bring my own? That’s a hassle. And, it’s really hard to present a hip, trendy, natural and normal, fun-times image, if the poster girl has to wear a helmet. I wonder how the whole helmet thing will play out. Will police will ignore it, so it becomes de facto optional? Or, …
