The Lone Cyclists on the Port Mann Bridge

John Whistler and Joey Lesperance (below) cycle over the Port Mann Bridge:

The path on the bridge is excellent – no other cyclist or ped was encountered. While Surrey has done a good job integrating into their bike network, the Coquitlam side is a car hell with the entrance almost impossible to find.

  1. Surrey side needs some work too. The route from Surrey Cebtre is really convoluted. It has about 20 turns and meanders along side streets. Probably takes twice as long as going along the straight routes reserved for cars.

The result is that cycling just takes too long and too much effort.
