I know this entry is about trees, but note the roundabout in the Blenheim photo. In addition to the white-and-black “keep right” sign found at traffic circles, it has a yellow-and-black “chevron” directional sign and a “yield” sign. I hope they make a difference.
I’ve never understood why the City doesn’t adopt a traffic circle-specific sign for those traffic circles. The “jog” sign never quite makes sense because the diagram doesn’t closely match the configuration of the circle. Others may view it as a “hazard” or “avoid” sign rather than a “keep to the right of the obstacle” sign.
A sign comprised of a circular shaped arrow with arrows branching off of it would be instructive and makes much more sense to me.
Those Portland ones look almost more confusing, you need something simple like the circular arrows used almost everywhere else in the world. Just do a google search for ’roundabout sign’ and you’ll get tons of examples.

Even better when full of leaves or Autumn splendor. That section of West 10th has always been one of my faves, too.
